WEISSER HIRSCH CONCERT VENUE IN DRESDEN
We know where Santa Claus lives
Where does Santa Claus actually prepare for his big night? Where are the routes for December 24 planned, gift lists compiled, packages packed, and the runners of his sleigh sharpened so he can set off on time? Perhaps you’ll run into him on a winter excursion through Dresden!
It’s well worth taking a trip to the beautifully maintained Weißer Hirsch villa district on the Dresdner Heide. For here, on a starry night, you might just encounter a white stag, Santa, or a traditional wooden cabin in the forest. Here on the edge of the Dresdner Heide, in the Weißer Hirsch district, the Weißer Hirsch Concert Plaza offers not only a green oasis brimming with life and culinary delights, but also—as of this year—Santa’s cabin. A hub for culture, music, beer gardens, and outdoor fun during the warmer months, the concert venue transforms into something truly special during the cold season: a winter wonderland full of magic, sparkling lights, and heartwarming contemplation.
FROM DEER TO REINDEER: WEISSER HIRSCH (WHITE DEER) CONCERT SQUARE
Dresden’s most beautiful outdoor leisure area in winter
Starting in mid-November, it transforms into the “Dresden Winter” paradise, featuring an ice rink, curling, fire pits, treats, and a varied program.
- A large natural ice rink with over 1,250 m² of ice — enough space for everyone who wants to glide across the ice.
- Curling rinks, ideal for groups, families, or company parties — for anyone with a competitive spirit or just looking to have some fun together.
- Cozy fire pits, a wintery atmosphere, and cozy corners where you can relax in peace.
In addition to ice skating and curling, the concert venue offers a colorful program:
- Handmade markets: art, gift ideas, and unique pieces away from mass-produced goods—perfect for Christmas shoppers.
- Puppet shows on Advent Sundays, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve for our younger guests—lovingly staged performances that conjure up a festive mood.
MAKING-OF
Moving Images and Rocking Santas
As early as May 2025, Dresden’s stollen bakers brought a festive atmosphere to the city. On the outskirts of the Weißer Hirsch neighborhood, they put on a reindeer show and had Santa Claus set up camp. This gave rise to motifs that make more than just the hearts of Christmas and stollen fans beat faster… These can be seen in the brand magazine, on posters, across social media channels, and in countless print materials. And anyone who visits the show bakery at the Striezelmarkt will feel as though they’re right in the heart of the Christmas magic.
