How traveling led to Dresden stollen and the anniversary office
The new stollen season is just around the corner. It’s time for Dresden’s stollen bakers to introduce the new representative of their traditional Christmas pastry: Lorna Prenzel is the 30th Dresden Stollen Girl. Like all her predecessors, the 22-year-old is a representative of the craft. The new Stollenmädchen is currently training to be a baker and is in her third year of apprenticeship at the Stefan Richter fine bakery in Dresden. The bakery is a member of the Schutzverband Dresdner Stollen e. V. (Dresden Stollen Protective Association).
Energetic, self-confident, and with great respect for the craft: welcomed by numerous stollen bakers, Lorna Prenzel was presented to the public on Wednesday at Dresden’s Neumarkt, in the heart of the stollen capital, in her new role as brand ambassador. She symbolically walked to her first press appointment, expressing her great passion. The photo opportunity on a roof terrace at Neumarkt also provided a view and perspective that plays an important role in the life of the new Stollenmädchen.

"I love being active and always exploring new paths. Dresden is my home and is linked to countless memories from my childhood. Through the trips I have taken in recent years, I have made many friends whom I enjoy showing our region to on hikes, which also gives me new perspectives time and again. The role of Dresden Stollen Girl has opened up yet another new perspective for me."
Over 4,000 kilometers from Mexico to Canada on the Pacific Crest Trail
After graduating from high school, Lorna Prenzel hiked the Pacific Crest Trail in 2022.
“Inspired by Cheryl Strayed’s book Wild: One Woman’s Journey into Her Own Heart, I had been dreaming of hiking this trail for years. It was a great time, during which I was able to gain many valuable experiences for my life. And it was definitely not my last trail,” says the 22-year-old, who is a real hands-on person and therefore decided to train in a trade after her return in fall 2022.

The backdrop for Lorna’s inauguration was Dresden’s Neumarkt square with its incredible scenery, including the Dresden Frauenkirche. Numerous Dresden stollen bakers were present when the Dresden native was introduced as the new brand ambassador for the first time.
