Young representative of the craft on the road for the traditional Saxon pastry
Baking with love, preserving traditions, and living the craft with heart and soul: these are the qualities that characterize the Dresdner Stollen. For one year, the young woman represents Dresden’s stollen bakers and their product—the Dresdner Christstollen. The patron of the Dresdner Stollenfest opens the big celebration on the Saturday before the second Sunday in Advent.
Tradition meets rock ‘n’ roll: Johanna Worm is the 2025 Dresdner Stollenmädchen
Just in time for the start of fall and in perfect autumn weather, Dresden’s stollen bakers cheered and welcomed their new, 31st Dresdner Stollenmädchen. Johanna Worm is 17 years young and an aspiring pastry chef. The new representative for the Dresdner Christstollen brand is completing her training at Ottendorfer Mühlenbäcker in Ottendorf-Okrilla.
The company was founded in 1992 and is known for its masterful baking craftsmanship and regional ties. With over 30 years of experience, the team led by managing directors Matthias Hüter and Robert Meyer has firmly established itself in the region.
For Johanna, the craft offers the opportunity to combine creativity with precision. The young woman also demonstrates creative versatility in her free time: she plays several instruments, including guitar, flute, ukulele, and piano. Her particular passion for the 1950s—from music and fashion to Elvis Presley—rounds off her personality and made the vintage car appearance at her presentation a harmonious overall picture.
A special election for Dresden's most delicious authority
If you want to become a Stollenmädchen, you need one thing above all else: knowledge of Stollen baking, knowledge of Dresden’s Stollen history, and a passion for the craft. Aspiring bakers, confectioners, and specialist sales assistants stand for election. They all study at the Dresden Vocational School for Agriculture and Nutrition and are trained at a member company of the Schutzverband Dresdner Stollen e. V. (Dresden Stollen Protective Association).
But before one of them can slip into the beautiful dress of the association representative and shine in the spotlight, the young women must prove their expertise. After a knowledge test, the board of the Stollen Protective Association decides who will be the new Stollenmädchen. Then an exciting time awaits the young woman: for a year, she will be on the road on behalf of Dresden’s Stollen bakers, in the public eye, photographed thousands of times, answering at least as many questions, and promoting Dresdner Christstollen on radio and television and around the world.
Authentic & enthusiastic about the craft of stollen baking
There are certainly many ways to choose a representative for a brand. But for Dresden’s stollen bakers, there is only one: authenticity. Every year, they choose a representative of their craft for the most delicious office in the Saxon capital. An apprentice baker, confectioner, or sales assistant is appointed as brand ambassador. What does the Dresdner Stollenmädchen have to be able to do? Bake Dresdner Christstollen, impress with good grades and a confident manner at vocational school, and above all, live the craft with heart and soul! For one year, the young woman then travels around the world promoting this special treat – the Dresdner Christstollen. As patron, she traditionally opens the Dresdner Stollenfest on the Saturday before the second Sunday in Advent.
DRESDNER STOLLENMÄDCHEN JOHANNA WORM
“Being able to represent this traditional pastry, its Christian history, and the craftsmanship behind it as the Stollenmädchen makes me incredibly proud. It is also important to me to show that we young people continue to carry on the love for this craft.”
